JOB SUMMARY:    

Responsible for administration of all landscape architecture operations, including design and technical support staff, technical standards, project design and management, quality control program, and general administration.

CHARACTERISTICS:  

  • Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight, and judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding all departmental activities.
  • Ability to effectively interface with other professionals (engineers, planners, architects) both within and outside the company.
  • Makes authoritative decisions within the department that have a broad influence on the activities of the company.
  • Sets current and future departmental goals and priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct support to the firm’s Director of Design Support/Program Manager
  • Manage all aspects of the Landscape Architecture Department and interface with all other departments within the company
  • Determine departmental program objectives and the requirements to meet those objectives
  • Develop technical standards and guidelines for the department
  • Routinely interact with and maintain contacts with organization leaders, clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others
  • Represent the company at important functions or conferences, including media interviews as
    required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.L.A. in Landscape Architecture
  • Preferred M.L.A. in Landscape Architecture
  • Registered Landscape Architect (RLA)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication and managerial skills
  • Experience in environmental design/green infrastructure preferred
  • Campus Master Planning, Urban, Community or Regional Planning experience preferred
  • 15+ years of professional experience, including in a managerial capacity
